Gluten free egg free recipes

Gluten free baking relies heavily on binders and additional liquids to make it even close to edible. One such binder is the humble egg. While eggs are an invaluable ingredient in baking, they are also a common allergen. Herein lies a difficulty for egg intolerant or allergic gluten free diners. As such, I wanted to write this roundup of gluten free egg free recipes.

Gluten free egg free recipes

These recipes are all gluten free and egg free (obviously!). However, they are also low FODMAP and vegetarian or vegan. Where possible, I try to cater to other dietary intolerances at the same time. When I can, I make recipes that are xanthan gum free, nut free and corn free, for example.

I have divided this recipe roundup into categories: breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and snacks. My hope is that this aids you in meal planning for the gluten free egg free diner in your life.

Is there anything better than a chewy, toasted bagel for breakfast? I think not. These gluten free, egg free bagels are made the traditional way – boiled and then baked. They’re xanthan gum free and nut free, too.

Gluten free porridge

A big bowl of porridge is all I want on a cold winter morning. This gluten free porridge uses rice flakes instead of oats and is the perfect winter warmer. It can be made dairy free/vegan.

Gluten free overnight ‘oats’

Again with the humble rice flake, these overnight ‘oats’ are a great breakfast for a busy day. You can add flavours as you see fit, and easily make it dairy free/vegan.

Gluten free buckwheat bread

If you peruse a few of my recipe roundups, you’ll probably notice the theme of this buckwheat bread recipe included in all of them. It is one of my favourite recipes and it covers a whole host of dietary requirements. It is egg free, gluten free, xanthan gum free and vegan.

It can’t be a breakfast roundup without some pancakes, right? These banana pancakes are a delicious way to use up any bananas you have lying around. They are egg free, nut free and xanthan gum free.

Gluten free egg free buckwheat wraps

Another favourite of mine, these buckwheat wraps are always in my freezer. When I fancy a salad recipe, I simply microwave a wrap and fill it to the high heavens. The wraps are egg free and dairy free/vegan adaptable.

Kale, quinoa and roasted pumpkin salad

I love a salad that keeps well for days, and this kale and quinoa salad fits that bill. It is gluten free and egg free, but also low FODMAP and dairy free/vegan adaptable.

Low FODMAP vegetarian or vegan enchiladas

I don’t know about you, but I’d look forward to lunch every day if I knew I had enchiladas ready to go. This beauties are vegetarian or vegan and thus can easily be made dairy free. They’re naturally gluten free, egg free and low FODMAP.

This easy garlic free protein spaghetti hides a hit of cottage cheese and cannelini bean protein in a distinctly pesto tasting sauce. A delicious and easy way to get protein in without sacrificing flavour. Use store bought gluten free pasta made without eggs to keep the dish egg free.

Sometimes you need a portable lunch, and that’s where these gluten free gozleme come in. They’re filled with a delicious spinach feta filling, encased in a simple xanthan gum free dough. Egg free and gluten free lunch made easy.

Gluten free dumpling wrappers

I could eat dumplings every day if my body would allow. In order to make this happen, I developed this recipe for gluten free, egg free, vegan and xanthan gum free dumpling wrappers. They are easy to make and extremely pliable. I have a tofu and ginger filling in my cookbook, Intolerance Friendly Kitchen, but stay tuned for a recipe on my website.

Gluten free buckwheat soba

These gluten free soba are not a dinner so much as a gluten free, egg free noodle that you can use in a dinner. My peanut butter stir fry, the low FODMAP ramen in Intolerance Friendly Kitchen, or in my sweet and sticky buckwheat noodle recipe. These are a simple and delicious noodle that you can use anywhere.

Risotto verde

Risotto is a gluten free classic, and a general classic at that. This version uses verdant green vegetables and herbs for a bright and flavourful dish that is low FODMAP, gluten free and egg free.

Low FODMAP jackfruit tacos

I am officially a jackfruit convert. It’s simple to use, tacos on any flavour you like, and is a great stand in for pulled pork. This dish uses a low FODMAP salsa, gluten free corn tortillas and a delicious jackfruit taco mince for an easy dinner dish.

Vegetarian or vegan chilli

You simply cannot go wrong with a good pot of chilli. Make it into nachos, tacos or chilli bowls and nobody will complain. Naturally gluten free and egg free, but also easily vegan/dairy free with the right toppings.

Gluten free egg free mug cake

It’s no secret that I am a mug cake fanatic. I wrote a whole e-book of mug cake recipes, in fact. And the reality is, I think they’re easier to make without eggs. Adding an egg can make a chewy or grainy mug cake, so most of my mug cake recipes (bar the protein mug cakes) are egg free. The e-book is also entirely egg free!

Vegan, gluten free chocolate cake

Gluten free cakes can be tricky without eggs, but fear not! This gluten free vegan chocolate cake is here to save the day. It is rich, fudgy and delicious without any eggs at all. You can use my brown butter chocolate buttercream instead of the vegan option, if you don’t need the cake to be dairy free/vegan.

Vegan, gluten free cinnamon rolls

Can you go wrong with a cinnamon roll? No, you cannot. I have developed a few versions in my time, so you have options. The recipe linked in my gluten free vegan version without yeast, but there is also a gluten free egg free version that uses yeast.

Gluten free egg free carrot muffins

Petition for carrot cake muffins to be made year round, not just at Easter. These beauties are slightly ‘healthier’ in that they don’t use any starches and rely on Greek yoghurt (or coconut yoghurt) for binding. They are egg free and xanthan gum free. The cream cheese icing is an optional (but delicious) treat.

Gluten free chocolate sandwich biscuits

Gluten free vegan blueberry muffins

Another favourite recipe of mine, these gluten free blueberry muffins could not be easier to make. They are naturally egg free, but can be vegan or regular. Use vegan yoghurt and butter for a vegan option, or dairy varieties for a gluten free egg free blueberry muffin.

Gluten free egg free vegetarian sausage rolls

One thing I desperately miss from my pre-pescatarian days is a good sausage roll. They are an Australian classic, after all. This version is from my cookbook, Intolerance Friendly Kitchen. It is egg free, gluten free and vegan with a good quality vegan butter in the pastry.

Gluten free egg free cinnamon raisin loaf

Is toast a snack? I say yes, hence this cinnamon raisin loaf inclusion. It is a recipe from my second buckwheat flour e-book, made with 100% buckwheat flour and Greek yoghurt for a higher protein loaf. This bread toasted with some melted butter? The snack of my DREAMS.
