Gluten free sourdough bread recipes are some of my favourite recipes to develop. They’re slower and more peaceful, and it’s incredibly satisfying to make a loaf entirely from scratch. Today I wanted to round up all the gluten free sourdough recipes on my website and in my cookbook. Happy baking!
Gluten free sourdough bread recipes
These gluten free sourdough bread are all nut free and xanthan gum free. They are mostly vegan, with the exception of a few recipes that contain butter or cheese.
Obviously, you’ll need an active gluten free sourdough starter before you begin. If you don’t have one yet, see my guide to gluten free sourdough starter here. It provides extensive notes and troubleshooting to get you on your way.

Gluten free sourdough bread
This boule was the first gluten free sourdough recipe I posted on my website, and it is still one of my favourites. It’s a simple bread that can be adapted based on the ingredients you have on hand. The loaf is also vegan and nut free.
‘White bread’ gluten free sourdough loaf
For a more ‘white bread’ experience, try my gluten free white bread sourdough. It is still vegan, but uses a higher proportion of starches to achieve that ‘white bread’ taste and texture.
Gluten free sourdough without rice flour
A lot of my recipes use rice flour, but I know some people are unable to tolerate it. As such, I wanted to develop a gluten free vegan loaf that would suit a rice free diet. This loaf has a lovely nutty flavour, yet retains a light crumb.
Seeded gluten free sourdough
This gluten free seeded sourdough is a delicious and wholesome boule. The seeds make for a lovely texture and they toast up nicely, too. The loaf is vegan and xanthan gum free.
Gluten free sourdough pizza bases
There had to be a gluten free sourdough pizza recipe, right? This version is vegan, xanthan gum free and nut free. It can sit in the fridge all weekend, resulting in pizza for dinner every night. The pizza is a match made in heaven with my low FODMAP pizza sauce.

Starch free sourdough pizza bases

Last but definitely not least, my gluten free sourdough croissant recipe from Intolerance Friendly Kitchen. These croissants are gluten free, xanthan gum free and can even be made vegan with a good quality vegan stick butter. They’re a labour of love, but 120% worth it.
