Choosing what you want for breakfast can be hard enough without adding dietary requirements to the mix. To make life a little bit easier, I thought I’d compile this list of gluten free dairy free breakfast recipes to start you on your way.

These recipes are, of course, gluten free and dairy free. They are also all xanthan gum free and mostly low FODMAP. I try to include lots of egg free and nut free options for people with extra dietary requirements, too.

Gluten free dairy free breakfast recipes
Gluten free bagels
These gluten free bagels utilise a scald and some psyllium husk for maximum chew without any xanthan gum. They’re naturally dairy free and vegan except for the egg wash. I wrote up a completely vegan version, too. Both bagels are low FODMAP thanks to the onion and garlic free everything bagel seasoning. I recommend the easy low FODMAP vegan lox if you are vegetarian or vegan.


100% buckwheat flour bagels
If you’re looking for a starch free, single flour bagel: look no further. These 100% buckwheat flour bagels are easily vegan with an egg wash alternative, xanthan gum free and nut free. They’re a recipe from my buckwheat flour e-book which you can find here.

Gluten free overnight ‘oats’
My love affair with rice flakes is just beginning, courtesy, in part, of these overnight oats. Unlike quinoa flakes, rice flakes have a very subtle nutty flavour. It pairs so well with cinnamon for an almost horchata like breakfast. You can add dairy free protein powder for an extra hit of protein, too.


Gluten free granola bars
Are granola bars breakfast? I say yes, hence the inclusion of these delicious chewy ones. They’re oat free, gluten free, vegan and have a nut free option. They also have a low FODMAP cousin, if you need a low FODMAP recipe.


Gluten free granola (no oats)
Where there are granola bars, there has to be granola! This easy recipe is formulated to create delicious clumpy granola. It’s also oat free, vegan, adaptable to be nut free and easily low FODMAP.


Gluten free sourdough bread
Gluten free sourdough starter is a bit of a labour of love initially. Once you get it going, though, you’ll have delicious gluten free opportunities abound. One such opportunity? This gluten free sourdough bread boule. It makes excellent avocado toast.


Gluten free seeded bread
This delicious and easy gluten free seeded bread recipe is one of my new favourites. It uses a simple mix of gluten free flours and is jam packed with seeds. The bread is xanthan gum free, nut free, egg free, dairy free and vegan. Bonus? It makes delightful toast.


Rice flake porridge
This rice flake is porridge is an easy and delicious gluten free breakfast for one. Use a dairy free milk of choice and dairy free toppings to keep the porridge dairy free (and incidentally vegan).


Gluten free hot cross bun loaf
This delicious gluten free vegan hot cross bun loaf is swirled with cinnamon sugar for extra flavour and spice. It’s vegan (and thus dairy free) in addition to being nut free and xanthan gum free. Forgive me for photographing it with butter!


Gluten free oat free granola
This easy and delicious granola is full of delicious clusters and endlessly customisable. I have a low FODMAP version as well as nut free suggestions.


Gluten free oat free granola bars
These granola bars are naturally dairy free and 100% gluten free thanks to quinoa flakes instead of oats. You can customise them to suit your tastes and they keep well in the fridge or on the counter.

These hot cross buns are vegan, gluten free, low FODMAP, nut free and xanthan gum free. There’s something for everyone here.


Gluten free vegan sausages
These sausages are one of my favourite recipes I have made. They are grain free, gluten free, vegan and have no weird or tricky ingredients. They take a bit of time to make but they’re incredibly satisfying (and low FODMAP to boot).


Gluten free buckwheat bread
A simple buckwheat bread that is gluten free and xanthan gum free. It uses mostly buckwheat flour with a small amount of tapioca or cassava flour for elasticity and stretch.


Buckwheat flour pancakes
These easy buckwheat pancakes use yoghurt, but this can easily be a dairy free variety. They’re easy to whip up (no beaters required) and make delicious leftovers as well. This is a recipe from my buckwheat flour e-book.

Vegan gluten free protein pancakes
This easy and delicious gluten free vegan protein pancakes use banana for sweetness and buckwheat flour for binding. They are easy to whip up and a delicious higher protein dairy free breakfast.

I love a good açai bowl but I struggle to make a nice thick one in my dodgy old blender. Enter: this easy Ninja Creami version. Mix it up the night before and all you have to do is give it a quick spin the next day.


Gluten free pumpernickel bread
This pumpernickel bread is one of my favourite new gluten free recipes. It is naturally gluten free, egg free, dairy free, nut free, xanthan gum free and entirely vegan. The loaf uses majority buckwheat flour for a flexible crumb, wholemeal profile and pumpernickel style earthy flavour.

Before I started the SIBO diet again, I was OBSESSED with this blended chocolate chia. An everyday treat for me, I developed a protein version as well as this regular version. Both are naturally gluten free and easily dairy free with the right milk.
