A guide to creating crispy oven baked tofu from www.georgeats.com
Salt and pepper tofu with green herb salad and easy ginger satay
FODMAP friendly, Gluten free, Main, Recipes, Vegan, Vegetarian

As you may or may not be aware, I’ve made it my life’s mission (for the month) to discover the secret behind crispy tofu. Unsatisfied with my baked tofu experiences at home, yet in awe of the shatteringly crunchy salt and pepper tofu at restaurants, I knew I was missing something. While I haven’t quite…

Vegan, gluten free bircher with a grain free option from www.georgeats.com
Gluten free vegan bircher (with grain free option)
Breakfasts, FODMAP friendly, Gluten free, Grain free, Posts, Recipes, Snacks

Whenever I bring up bircher, or overnight oats as Instagram has renamed them, my Mum reminds me that Bircher himself would be rolling in his grave for lack of credit. The olden day version of a company posting using your smoothie bowl photo on the gram to sell their skinny tea. Poor Bircher. While there…

Vegan cheesy miso baked potatoes with fennel cucumber salsa from www.georgeats.com
Vegan cheesy baked potatoes with fennel, lime, mint and cucumber salsa
FODMAP friendly, Gluten free, Main, Posts, Recipes, Vegan, Vegetarian

We have well and truly entered the season for baked potatoes here in Australia, and although I’m generally the number one proponent of excessive cheese and sour cream on a baked potato, today is not that day. My latest experiment in the quest for great (or even just acceptable) gut health has been to cut…

Gluten free Caprese toastie with FODMAP friendly toasted pine nut pesto
Breakfasts, FODMAP friendly, Gluten free, Recipes, Snacks, Vegetarian

So I’ve been making toasties on Instagram recently like I myself discovered the toastie (I can confirm, I did not). What I did discover, though, is that toasties are a seasonally appropriate way to consume your favourite summer salads whilst in the depth of winter. There’s something about winter that requires more carbs, and why not…

Dairy free buttermilk, olive oil, sea salt banana muffins (gluten free, FODMAP friendly)
Baking, Baking, Dessert, FODMAP friendly, Recipes, Snacks

Much like anything banana related, the demand for good banana muffins never really dies down. Much less so, in my circles, good gluten free banana muffins. It has been a while since I’ve attempted the humble banana muffin, but after a number of requests for a gluten free varietal, I figured now is as good…

Nutella mini meringues (gluten free and FODMAP friendly)
Baking, Dessert, FODMAP friendly, Gluten free, Grain free, Posts, Recipes, Snacks

I’m currently having a moment with Nutella, as I have done many times before. Just a few days ago I had the idea to incorporate some Nutella into the chocolate chip cookies from my cookbook, and today my living room has been overcome with mini Nutella meringues. How did I get here, I wonder as…

A gluten free version of Nigella’s courgette cake with kaffir lime curd
Baking, Baking, Dessert, FODMAP friendly, Gluten free, Recipes

Much like the chocolate peanut butter cheesecake from last week, this cake, a gluten free version of Nigella’s or courgette cake is something I make every year for Mother’s Day. Mum has been requesting it since I can remember, and so (apart from a brief attempt at salted caramel donuts, which was quickly abandoned for it’s…

Thai carrot and coconut soup (vegan, gluten free, FODMAP friendly)
FODMAP friendly, Gluten free, Main, Posts, Recipes, Vegan, Vegetarian

It’s officially soup weather here in Melbourne. Personally, the IDEA of soup generally seems like a good one.  That is, however, until reality hits and I’m either raiding the fridge an hour later. That, or unwittingly consuming enough onion and garlic to keep me in bed for the week. Neither are ideal. This Thai style…
