I have been going all in on developing Ninja Swirl recipes recently. I figured that it would be helpful to group them all together into one post as I have done with my Ninja Creami recipes. Shall we dive right in?
These recipes can all be made into soft serve or into a scoopable ice cream. Each recipe includes plenty of tips for working with the machine and tips on substitutes if there are any. If you don’t have a Swirl machine, you can read my unpaid review here.
Ninja Swirl vanilla soft serve
I am a vanilla lover at heart so I had to start this roundup with my favourite flavour. This rich and delicious vanilla ice cream can be made as a scoop or a soft serve. You can easily make lactose free with lactose free cream and milk.

Ninja Swirl vegan vanilla ice cream
After developing my Ninja Creami cashew ice cream recently, I knew I wanted to make one for the Ninja Swirl. It is gorgeously rich and creamy yet escapes the pitfalls of store bought vegan cream.

Ninja Swirl chocolate ice cream (or soft serve)
I love the condensed milk based chocolate recipe I have for the Creami but I think I love this version even more. It has a full on chocolate flavour but you can easily make lactose free milk with lactose free milk and cream.

Ninja Swirl strawberry ice cream
Speaking of full on flavour, this strawberry ice cream is the PERFECT fresh yet creamy treat. It is absolutely bursting with strawberry flavour and feels light yet creamy at the same time. Scoop it, soft serve it, the choice is yours.

Ninja Swirl Dole Whip
This Dole Whip was one of the first recipes I set out to create after getting the Swirl machine. It is naturally vegan and has the perfect balance of creaminess and fresh sweetness from the pineapple. You can use fresh or frozen fruit, too.

Ninja Swirl frozen yogurt
Speaking of the perfect use for a Swirl machine, this frozen yogurt is just sweet enough with a lovely pipeable consistency. It works well with high protein yogurt, sweetened yogurts and coconut yoghurt, too.

Ninja Swirl coffee ice cream
As an espresso devotee, a coffee flavour was an absolute must for my collection of Ninja Swirl recipes. My recipe can easily made lactose free with lactose free milk and cream.

Ninja Swirl aรงai soft serve
Soft serve aรงai on a hot summer morning? Sign me right up! This recipe is naturally vegan and has the perfect balance of flavours.

Ninja Swirl raspberry sorbet
Can you make sorbet into soft serve? Yes, as it turns out. Although this sorbet is delicious as a scoop, I do love the dramatics of making it onto a perfectly pink coloured soft serve.

Ninja Swirl frozen custard
I absolutely adore custard in all forms so it was inevitable that a custard soft serve would be developed. My recipe uses whole eggs because I can’t stand the stress of having endless egg whites relegated to the freezer. Maybe you are the same?

Ninja Swirl high protein soft serve
One for the protein lovers! A high protein soft serve that can contain up to 68g protein per tub. Not too shabby for a delicious dessert!

Tips for the Ninja Swirl machine
- In my experience, it is best to process high fat ice cream on the scoop setting, even if you intend to make soft serve. The soft serve setting processes the mixture for too long and starts to turn the mixture into butter. The result is a fatty coating on the roof of your mouth which is unpleasant.
- I think the soft serve option for this machine benefits from lower sugar recipes that utilise glucose syrup or light corn syrup (distinct from high fructose corn syrup). This gives the recipes more body and viscosity which translates to a smoother soft serve.
- In my experience, soft serve recipes also benefit greatly from xanthan gum. The result is a smoother consistency that pipes out of the machine in a smooth and controlled way. At the moment, I think 1-2g xanthan gum is the sweet spot for a super pipeable soft serve.
- If you are making soft serve and you notice your ice cream is soft after the first processing, put it straight in the freezer for 30+ minutes. It is much easier to firm up your ice cream before processing. Once there is mixture in the soft serve pipes, it will freeze solid before the mixture in the tub and you wonโt be able to make soft serve without defrosting again (defeating the purpose).
