Roasted capsicums, lactose free ricotta and gluten free sourdough croutons

Honestly, roasted capsicums are my favourite vegetable second only to potatoes. Raw capsicums are OK, sure. But roasted? They cannot be beaten, my friends. This recipe for roasted capsicums is a delightful way to use up stale gluten free sourdough. If you’re anything like me in isolation, you’ve baked more than you can chew, so…

Gluten-free chocolate cake (the easiest ever)
All, Baking, Baking, Dessert, FODMAP friendly, Gluten free, Recipes

It has been a while since I’ve developed a gluten-free chocolate cake recipe. My last one, this quinoa chocolate cake, was a solid few years ago. And while a good chocolate cake recipe never goes out of style, the times have changed somewhat since that recipe. You know, the whole pandemic thing. I wanted to…

FODMAP friendly vegetarian curry (gluten free, vegan option)
All, FODMAP friendly, Gluten free, Posts, Recipes, Vegetarian

My personal affinity for curry began when I was studying at University. There was an Indian restaurant near our house that did the most amazing food, and their takeaway punctuated many ~important moments~ (mostly me getting dumped) in my young adult life. Shahi paneer was the order of the day for both my sister and…

Aaaand we’re back on the gluten free sourdough train. A train, might I add, that I have never gotten off. I am totally and utterly obsessed with the world of gluten free sourdough bread right now. I have been baking around the clock, learning the ins and outs of sourdough. After sharing my original recipe for…

Today’s recipe is a FODMAP friendly take on gluten free ANZAC biscuits. I’ve casually tinkered with an ANZAC biscuits every year, a day or so before the event. Needless to say I never finish on time, and, stuffed with delicious failed ANZAC cookies, I tell myself I’ll do it next year. This year, however, it…

It’s my sister’s second 29th birthday today. Our plan was to be on a Sri Lankan beach, cocktail in hand. Our reality is us living on different sides of the world, living in activewear and making up excuses not to attend people’s zoom parties. Needless to say, the whole pandemic thing has really dampened our…

Gluten-free sourdough hot-cross-buns
All, Baking, Dessert, FODMAP friendly, Gluten free, Recipes, Snacks, Snacks + extras

After many many tests, today I’m finally sharing my recipe for gluten-free sourdough hot-cross-buns. I’d apologise for them being a little late for Easter, but does it even matter right now? Easter as we know it is cancelled – may as well eat hot cross buns with reckless abandon, far beyond their socially acceptable end…

Getting through moving house with a little help fr Getting through moving house with a little help from my friends (crispy potatoes). I used the crispy kipfler method from my site (which is linked) but with sebago spuds and some awkwardly positioned rosemary (cousin of dangly basil)
One of the 3 times in my adult life that I wished One of the 3 times in my adult life that I wished I’d taken the time to iron something. This is the gluten free lemon drizzle cake from my website - it uses only one flour (not a blend) no xanthan gum, and is being posted in lieu of what I attempted to shoot today which did not look half this nice, irrespective of ironing. Recipe is linked!
The leaning tower of me consistently adding a punn The leaning tower of me consistently adding a punnet more blueberries than my own recipe calls for. On the topic of these vegan, gluten free blueberry muffins, I’ve learned that you can: use regular dairy yoghurt and butter if you don’t need them to be vegan, use panela/rapadura sugar if that’s your thing, chop and change (use vegan butter but regular yoghurt and vice versa) or use oil instead of butter. My number one personal trick for making buttercrea My number one personal trick for making buttercream look good on a cake is to buy a lot of berries and move on with your life. This is a gluten free chocolate cake recipe uses only one flour, no blends, no xanthan gum, no nuts, and can easily be made dairy free. If dairy is your thing though, I highly recommend you make the chocolate brown butter buttercream to go with it. Recipe is linked!
